Stop blaming others.  Take responsibility for every area of your life.

Live so that when your children think of fairness, caring, and integrity, they think of you.  Steve’s Additional Comment:  Recently my son was playing basketball and tore his Achilles Tendon.  While in the recovery room from the surgery to repair the tendon, the Anesthesiologist gave him certain medicine to relieve the pain.  He was kind of “out of it” and when asked questions by the medical staff, he would respond with truthful answers and information that he would not normally have given out to the general public.  When he saw my wife and I in the recovery room, he kept saying how appreciative he was of both of us. Trust me on this one, both his mother and I APPRECIATED his comments.

Think before you speak – unkind and unjustified comments, as well as untruthful statements, can leave wounds that will scar others for life, as well as yourself.

There is some truth in all humor.

Admit your mistakes.  PopPop’s Additional Comment:  This is very hard to do, but after you start admitting your mistakes, you will feel so much better.  Then your goal should be to try to correct the mistakes. If you have hurt someone’s feelings, try as soon as possible to apologize.

Sometimes the truth is stranger than fiction.
